Narex forges the chisel blades out of chrome manganese spring steel (CrMn) and harden them isothermally to produce a very even and even bainite structure at RC59+/-1. Chrome-manganese steel delivers similar performance to carbon steel, but is more efficient to produce. The Narex chisels of the 8116 for carpenters have crossed e in teardrop shape. They resist taps from a mallet without damaging the surface and uncomfortable to use when you peel them.
