SAWbird+ NOAA is a standalone LNA module designed for capturing beautiful weather images from NOAA satellites The module uses two ultra-low noise LNAs and a custom high-performance SAW filter centered on the frequency of interest SAWbird+ NOAA can be powered in three ways: via the pre-voltage tee, via the integrated micro USB port or via the integrated socket strip Although compatible with most SDRs, we recommend use in conjunction with NESDR SMArTee (available on Amazon, product ID B079C4S2BT). It has very high attenuation outside the 5 MHz bandpass range, centered around 137.5 MHz, and a minimum of 30 dB gain in the bandpass range. The rated current consumption is 180 mA. The SAWbird+ series includes two ultra-low noise LNAs arranged around a specially designed high-performance SAW filter centered to the desired frequency. Each LNA module has 2 EMI shields to separate each sensitive LNA from external interference. There are also M3 mounting holes to mount the PCB in your custom enclosure or run a project with standard hardware. Each module offers 3 different power options, but you should only power one option at a time! The recommended power consumption via the SMA output (for bias-T-enabled SDRs such as the NESDR SMArTee) is 3V-5V DC. If you don't have a Bias-T enabled SDR, you can alternatively use the external power options via the microUSB port or the power supply header. The recommended external power supply is 3.3V-5.5VDC. Although the SAWbird has a protection circuit for surge conditions and voltages of up to 12V DC should continue to work and do not damage the device, it is not recommended for long-term use. Please note the damage caused by overvoltage.
